Summerween 2025 | To Be Read

Hi Friends
Summerween is here again! For those unaware, Summerween is a readathon I enjoy taking part in every summer. It’s basically Halloween, but in summer. And as a winter lover, I’m all about it! If you want to join the fun, check out the announcement video—it’s got all the readathon details! There are only five prompts for this week-long readathon (July 5-12), and I’m aiming to read four books. But I can’t wait for all the spooky reads!

Read A Horror Or Thriller Book
Since Kirsten White’s Hide is on my July TBR, I figured I’d include it here as well. Been wanting to read this horror book forever; it’s got a competition and takes place in an amusement park. I have high hopes for this book, and since it’s short, it should be a quick read.

Read A Book With The Sky On The Cover
I had tons of choices, but I went with She Left by Stacie Gray. It fits the prompt because there’s a sky on the cover, and the story takes place around Memorial Day, so it totally screams summer vibes. The plot reminds me a bit of “And Then There Were None,” but from what I know it’s not a retelling.

Read A Book You’ve Owned For More Than A Year
For a change of pace, I’ve chosen Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club for this prompt. This mystery series, which you may have heard of, centers on residents of a retirement community who become amateur detectives. I’ve owned the book for around two years, and with the movie adaptation coming out soon, now seems like the perfect time to read it.

Read A Novella, Manga Or Listen To A Spooky Audiobook
I’ve been wanting to dive back into Something Is Killing the Children, even though I’m not really into graphic novels. It feels right to read volume two during the readathon because I read volume one during Summerween. Let’s just turn it into a Summerween tradition.

There is one more prompt, which is to Read A Book In The Dark Or At Night, but I’ll probably just use one of the other books already on the TBR for it. Comment below if you’re planning to participate in Summerween. Please like and share this post before you leave. Consider signing up to my mailing list as well. July 2025 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
Today, I’m sharing my July TBR! I had a pretty good reading month in June, but I’m still not fully out of my book slump. Nevertheless, I’m excited for a new month of reading. As always, I use reading prompts to help me choose my monthly TBR. Lately, I’ve been sticking to a 6 book TBR. Since I’m such a mood reader, my goal each month is to read at least half of the books I pick. I’ll also be participating in the Summerween readathon in July, but I’ll be sharing a separate TBR for that.

June 2025 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
It’s TBR time again, and since June is my birthday month, I’m definitely letting myself mood read most of the time because I’m such a mood reader. Still, I wanted to pick my six TBR prompt cards for the month. I also made sure to include some LGBTQ+ books since it’s Pride Month!

May 2025 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
I’ll be sharing what I plan to read in May today. Like the last few months, I’m using reading prompts to pick my May reads. I’m in a serious romantasy reading mood, so I included as many romance novels as I could on this month’s reading list.

March 2025 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
Today I am sharing my March TBR! So, when I first started writing this post, I accidentally wrote “February TBR,” which just shows how fast the months are flying by. I am, however, eager to select my next TBR. Spoiler alert—I read no books from my February TBR. I’m way behind with my reading goal, but I’m hoping to get back on track in March. I used my TBR prompt cards again to choose my next reads. Fingers crossed for a great reading month!

February 2025 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
I can’t believe it’s TBR time again! My reading in January started off so slow, but by the end of the month, I had fallen back in love with books. My two-week reading hiatus was partly due to the post-holiday slump but mostly because of my sudden urge to rewatch Grey’s Anatomy. What can I say? I’m dark and twisty!

That said, I still managed to read some great books in January, and I’m excited to use my prompt cards again to help pick my February TBR. This time, I decided to pick eight prompt cards—because why not have a bigger TBR for a short month? I really am a genius.

And there you have it—the books on my February TBR! If I’m being completely honest, most of these are books I’ve been putting off for a while. Still, I think I can get through all of them since romances are usually pretty easy reads for me.

January 2025 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
Today I’m sharing my January 2025 TBR! I’m so excited for a new year, and I know there are only good things ahead. To make picking my TBR a little more fun (and because I’m terrible at coming up with bookish prompts), I decided to buy some amazing TBR cards off Etsy. I picked six prompt cards this month because I wanted to start the year with a realistic TBR. As a mood reader, I’m not always great at sticking to a TBR, but some months I may pick more prompts—like eight—depending on how much of a challenge I’m up for. Let’s jump into the cards I picked and the books I’ll be reading!

Book Club
Some of you might not know that I’m a Rosy Sunday Social Club chapter host! For January, our pick is Intermezzo by Sally Rooney. I honestly know very little about this book, except that Sally Rooney typically writes adult literary fiction. There will be a happy hour discussion for this book, and you can grab free tickets [here]! I’d love for you to read the book and join me for a fun bookish conversation so we can share our thoughts!

December 2024 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
Happy Bookmas Day One! Today, I’m sharing my December TBR with you. But this time, I decided to do something a little different. I let my husband pick 10 books for me to read. He had free rein of my bookshelves, and honestly, I think he did a pretty good job. I did, however, pick two books myself. Since we have the classic song “12 Days of Christmas,” I thought a total of 12 books on my December TBR would be fitting. The first 10 books I’ll share are my husband’s picks, and the last two are mine.

Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver
I was surprised when he picked this book since it wasn’t really on my radar. All I know is that it’s a dark romcom about two serial un-alivers. I’ve never read anything like it before, so I’m a little unsure if I’ll enjoy the plot. Still, I’m willing to give it a try.

Winterhouse by Ben Guterson
This book was probably low on my TBR since I don’t typically read middle grade. However, I’ve heard it’s a great winter read. While I’m not disappointed it’s on the list, I’m not necessarily excited about it either.

The Courting of Bristol Keats by Mary E. Pearson
My husband picked this one solely because of its pretty sprayed edges. He didn’t know anything about it other than it’s a romantasy—which, honestly, is all I know about it too. But since I’m very much in my romantasy era, I’m intrigued.

Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
He was kind enough to pick this sequel because I raved about the first book in the series. I can’t say much about the plot since I don’t know what happens, but the series follows a young woman who just so happens to be the assistant to a notorious villain.

A Game of Fate (Hades Saga, #1) by Scarlett St. Clair
This is the first book in a companion series to Scarlett St. Clair’s Hades and Persephone series, which follows Persephone’s narrative. However, these books are told from Hades’s perspective. I’m excited to get his take on things!

The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi
This gothic mystery-fantasy gives me Mexican Gothic vibes. There are a lot of intriguing elements, including romance and a curse, so I’m curious to see how it plays out.

Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis
I think this is a cozy fantasy, but I could be wrong about the genre. Based on the synopsis, it seems like a funny and fast read. It’s recommended for fans of Travis Baldree, which makes me nervous because Legends and Lattes didn’t wow me. Still, I’m going to go into the book with an open mind.

You May Now Kill the Bride by Kate Weston
This is a murder mystery. It feels more summery, which doesn’t work well with my seasonal reader personality, but I think I’ll enjoy it anyway. The plot sounds fun—the bride ends up dead, and the bridesmaids are the main suspects. It seems like it could be a humorous mystery, so I’ll either love it or hate it.

The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna
This is a YA fantasy that I hadn’t thought about since I bought it. It has an interesting premise, but since I’m not much of a YA reader anymore, I probably would’ve kept putting it off if my husband hadn’t chosen it.

Fireborne by Rosaria Munda
This book is about dragons! I’m halfway through Fourth Wing, and it’s made me want to read all the dragon books. Funny enough, my husband didn’t know it was about dragons when he picked it. I’m not mad about it being on my TBR, though it is the start of a new series. I love that for me. Hopefully, you can read the sarcasm in that sentence.

A Holly Jolly Ever After by Julie Murphy
This is the companion novel to A Merry Little Meet Cute, which I read two years ago. I know the third book in this spicy holiday romance series is already out, so I need to read this one. Unfortunately, I haven’t been in the mood for it, so I decided to make it one of my TBR picks to give myself a little push.

Spectacular by Stephanie Garber
This is a holiday novel set in the Caraval world. If you know me, you know I really enjoyed the first book in the trilogy—it’s a solid 4-star series for me. I’m excited to return to this world with these characters, especially at Christmastime!
Related Post: Caraval | Book Review

And there you have it, my chaotic but fun December TBR. I know there aren’t many holiday books on this list, but I’m not too upset about that. With all the Christmas movies I’ll be watching, I’m glad to have some variety in the genres I’ll be reading. Don’t forget to hit the follow button before you leave so you never miss a Bookmas post!

November 2024 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
Today I’m sharing my November TBR and talking about the books I plan to read this month. I’m actually doing my TBR a little differently. I got this idea from Rachel Cerys, a BookTuber who uses prompts to pick her TBR. To make it more fun and challenging, she also uses a spinner wheel with added challenges. Some options on the spinner include picking two prompts and choosing one, selecting two books for one prompt, or combining two prompts. There’s also “add a spin” and “standard,” where I simply pick a prompt. I hope that makes sense! If it’s unclear, I’d definitely recommend checking out one of Rachel Cerys TBR videos.

I planned to do only seven spins, but throughout the game, I landed on “add a spin” four times, so I ended up with 11 spins/prompts.

Standard: A Book You’ve Been Putting Off

There are two books I’ve really been putting off, but one I definitely didn’t want to read. So, I chose Two Twisted Crowns, the sequel to One Dark Window and the conclusion to the duology.
Related Post: One Dark Window | Book Review

Combine 2 Prompts: An Illustrated Cover / Book You Wanted to Read Last Year

This was an easy choice. I’ve wanted to read Kiss Her Once for Me since it was released in 2022. It’s a holiday fake-dating queer romance that sounds fantastic.

1 Prompt, 2 Books: Two or More Authors / A Holiday Romance

For this, I chose A Holly Jolly Ever After, which I meant to read last year but didn’t get around to. This is the companion novel to A Merry Little Meet Cute, which I enjoyed. My second pick was Three Holidays and a Wedding, a festive story about two very different women who meet on a plane and share secrets during some scary turbulence.

Choose 2, Pick 1: Owned for More Than a Year / Published This Year

I had my husband choose which prompt to pick, and he went with “Published This Year” because he’s been wanting me to read Bride by Ali Hazelwood. I’m nervous about this one since I’ve heard mixed things.

Combine 2 Prompts: Under 300 Pages / Red or Green on the Cover

This was another easy choice since I have so many holiday books on my list. I chose It’s a Fabulous Life, a queer reimagining of It’s A Wonderful Life. Need I say more?

Standard: A Book with a Family Relationship

For this prompt, I picked a mystery thriller, You Must Remember This by Kat Rosenfield. I tried reading it last year but couldn’t get into it. I’m hoping to finish it this time.

Standard: One-Word Title

I realized I don’t own many books with one-word titles, but I do have Hunted by Meagan Spooner. I’ve wanted to read this Beauty and the Beast retelling for years—it seems like the perfect winter read.

1 Prompt, 2 Books: Most Recent Purchases

I wasn’t too upset about picking two books here since it means I get to read some of my newer purchases. I chose The Nightmare Before Kissmas, a Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired M/M holiday romance, and The Stars Are Dying, a romantasy I know nothing about.

Standard: Published in the Current Month

Of course, I had to pick another holiday romance for this prompt! I chose The Christmas Wish, where the main character is stuck in a time loop, reliving Christmas Day over and over.

Combine 2 Prompts: A Gifted Book / A Book Over 400 Pages

I decided it was time to finish the Twilight saga and read Breaking Dawn. This book is over 700 pages, easily fitting the “over 400 pages” prompt, and it’s part of the Twilight white edition box set I received as a gift last Christmas.
Related Post: Twilight | Book Review

Choose 2, Pick 1: A Book About a Holiday / Author You’re Thankful For

I was torn between these prompts because both fit the season well. I ultimately chose “Author You’re Thankful For” and picked Elsie Silver. This is my first year reading her books, and I’ve quickly become a fan. I’ll be reading Powerless, the third book in the Chestnut Springs series.
