Hi Friends,
It is time for another seasonal book tag! I am going to be doing the ‘Thanksgiving’ Book Tag, created by Madison Goodyear on YouTube. This tag is filled with bookish Thanksgiving related questions, and I hope that you enjoy it.


I really had to think about this question, because it is hard to recommend a book that everyone would probably enjoy. However, I decided that ‘The Seven Year Slip’ by Ashley Poston would probably be liked by many readers. This is an adult romance with a magical realism element, so I believe that even fantasy readers will be fans of this plot.


I will forever say that ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens is a must read for everyone. It is my favorite book, and I have talked about it a lot on my blog. Therefore, I will never stop recommending it to others.


Something that I can’t get enough of when it comes to books would probably have to be a romance. I know that it is so lame and basic, but I love a good romance plot. Whether I am reading a fantasy, contemporary, or thriller, I do not mind there being a little bit of romance added into the story. However, it has to be done correctly and make sense with the plot.


For me, a palate cleanser book is rereading an old favorite book. After months of reading new books, it is always nice to go back to a story you know and love. Therefore, my perfect palate cleanser book would have to be ‘Better Than The Movies’ by Lynn Painter. This book is perfect!

I am going to say, ‘How to Survive Your Murder’ by Danielle Valentine, although this book does not actually look gross, but more cheesy. Despite being cheesy and unrealistic, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found it to be a fun, campy, young adult slasher, perfect for the spooky season.

This is not only a comfort read for me but also a comfort movie, ‘Little Women,’ by Louisa May Alcott. It is such a wholesome read that it is all about family, loss, and love. Honestly, if you have never read the book or see any film adaptions, you are truly missing out.

I am not going to pick one book for this prompt but an author. Katee Roberts writes some shall I say more adult steamy books that I just cannot seem to get enough of. I do not review the more mature books that I read on the blog, but let me just say – if you are looking to get into the erotic genre, then pick up one of her books.


I received ‘Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice: A Book-to-Table Classic’ as a gift, and it is a stunning book. The book contains the classic story but with recipes included throughout the book. I tried reading Jane Austen before, and she was not for me. However, this edition is too pretty not to have in my collection, so it is completely there for looks.


This question was difficult to answer because I was not sure there were any books I had read but liked better when rereading. However, I realized that the first time I read ‘The Afterlife of Holly Chase’ by Cynthia Hand, in 2018, I gave it only 3 stars. However, in 2021, I reread this and fell completely in love with the book. It has become a must read for me during every holiday season.

I had two options for this question, but the first one that came to mind was ‘The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue’ by V.E. Schwab. This book had a great plot, beautiful writing, and interesting characters, but needed to be at least 100 pages shorter.

I am not going to lie. I instantly knew that ‘Not a Happy Family’ by Shari Lapena would be the perfect answer to this question. It is a mystery thriller; therefore, there are some twists and turns, but it mainly has a ton of family drama. If you are looking for an adult mystery with a complicated family, then this is the book for you.


In 2024, when it comes to reading, I look forward to reading more books off my physical TBR. In addition, I am hoping to read books by some authors I have never read before. I have many reading plans for the new year; therefore, these are only two of my goals.

My Rating

I had heard that this book was beautifully written with an addictive plot. Well, I do agree that that the writing was fantastic. V.E. Schwab is a wonderful author, but since I’ve read her Cassidy Blake trilogy, written as Victoria Schwab, I already knew that I loved her writing style. The writing might be one of the best things about this book.

Schwab has a way of pulling you into the story write from the first chapter. The book started off wonderful, and I wanted to know what was going to happen next. In the book, we follow a young girl named Addie LaRue, who in 1714 makes a deal with a demon. One that has lasting consequences. She shall live forever, but never be remembered by anyone.

Now tell me that plot doesn’t sound intriguing? Of course, Addie does end up meeting a boy who, by some miracle. remembers her. And, thus a romance develops. I didn’t mind the romance, but I’m not actually sure if I liked Addie or her love interest, Henry. However, I enjoyed watching the fall in love and understand each. One of my all time favorite quotes is “The greatest feeling in this world is knowing you actually mean something to someone.” And, I think that describes their relationship.

On the other hand, we have Luc who is the demon that made the deal with Addie. The book shows that they share somewhat of a bond, but their relationship is more of want vs need. Although, I will say I have a thing for a dark, mysterious bad boy so I was team Luc. And, I have no shame in saying that.

“If no one heard it, did it happen?
If a person cannot leave a mark, do they exist?”

The plot was actually pretty heartbreaking, yet I didn’t find myself crying. A big message with in the story is that sometimes the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Every choice has consequences and your life might be worse for it. That being said, love played a big part in the story mainly what you’d do for true love.

There was some LGBT representation in the book, but I would say mental health was very prevalent in the plot. Interestingly enough the mental health aspect worked well in this primarily magic realism story. Also, Addie had to do some questionable things throughout her life. Some of those things could be triggering to be. As I always say, please do your research, and look up trigger warnings before reading the book.

I think my major problems with this book, and the reason I didn’t rate it super high, is the pacing. The chapters were so long and the book it self felt very slow. As a reader, I am all about fast paced books especially when it comes to fantasies. And, this one just took me way too long to finish. Also, I’m normally fine with dual timelines but I found myself getting a bit confused with all the jumping around through time with in the story.

Overall, the book is a solid story, that I didn’t hate whatsoever. The plot was very interesting, and the writing was top notch. Not sure how I feel about the end, but I enjoyed my reading experience nonetheless. And, I will most certainly be reading more from this author.

5 Star Predictions #1 // 2021

Hello book lovers,
I am back to blogging! I took a little break this week, but I am very excited about today’s post. I am going to talk about my 5 star book predictions. I typically stay in my comfort zone when it comes to reading, so I can normally tell the books I am going to enjoy. I do want to branch out in my reading this year, but these are the books that I have a good feeling I will rate highly.

Fool Me Twice by Carrie Aarons: After the death of her best friend, due to cancer, she sets out to complete her bucket list. One of the major tasks on the list is getting back at Lincoln Kolb, her late best friends jerk of an ex-boyfriend. However, these enemies might not start to look past their bad blood.

I love a good revenge turned love story! I feel like this book could either be great, or just average. I am hoping for the best, and going to predict that I will give it a 5 star rating.

Not My Problem by Ciara Smyth: Aideen can’t solve her own problems, so she takes it upon herself to solve one for her overwhelmed classmate. After her act of kindness more of her classmates want Aideen’s help.

This book gives me teen movie vibes, which I am here for. I can picture this as a Netflix movie one day for sure. I think the concept could be very funny and I am looking forward to picking it up. It won’t be released until May 2021, still I will be reading it as soon as possible.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab: Addie LaRue made a deal of a lifetime with the devil. She will live forever, yet be forgot by everyone. She tries to leave her mark on the world and be remembered however she can.

I don’t usually go for these kinds of books, although I am a big fan of V.E. Schwabs middle grade works. This story peaked my interested from it’s release, and I have a good feeling it will become a favorite of mine.

What I Like About You by Marisa Kante: Girl meets boy online. They become the best of internet friends. Girl moves to a new town. Boy happens to live in that town. Girl hides her online identity from boy. A tale as old as time, right?

This is Kante’s debut novel and it sounds adorable. I do see a bit of similarities to Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia, and I could see there being some possible anxiety representation in this book. I find the plot a typical cute, lighthearted contemporary story that I love.

Admission by Julie Buxbaum: Chloe thought she had the perfect life with admission into her dream school, a celebrity mom and amazing prom date. However, things get less than perfect when her mom gets arrested for participating a college admission scandal. Chloe must come face to face with the truth and everything she has taken for granted before.

You all have probably heard about the real college admissions scandal that rocked Hollywood. I knew that some form of fiction would be made from it, though I figured it would be a Lifetime movie, still I think this will be an interesting read. I haven’t heard anyone talk about this book, so I am looking forward to discovering if I like it as much as I expect.
