Hi Friends,
Today, I thought I’d give a quick reading update and chat about the books I’m currently diving into. I used to be so good at sticking to just one book at a time, but now I can’t help but read multiple books at once. I think it’s because I’m such a mood reader—I always need a book from a different genre on hand so I can pick up whatever fits my mood in the moment.

A Touch Of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair
I’m about 50% into this one, and I’m absolutely loving it. It took me a bit to get into, but once it hooked me, I couldn’t put it down! Honestly, right now it’s giving me 5-star feels, and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

We Used To Live Here by Marcus Kliewer
I’m also 50% into this one, but I’ve got mixed feelings. I know this is a super popular thriller that a lot of people are raving about—it’s fast-paced with an interesting premise—but I’m just not that invested in the plot. The writing style isn’t my favorite, and it hasn’t captivated me yet. I’m hoping by the end I’ll understand all the hype!

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
I’m slowly making my way through this book and I’m only 35% in, but I’m really enjoying it so far. I can definitely see why it’s gotten so much attention. It’s giving me ‘Divergent’ and old-school YA fantasy vibes, and I’m living for the enemies-to-lovers romance. I can’t wait for the plot to pick up even more!

Friday Reads #20

Hi Friends,
Happy National Book Lovers Day! Since today is all about celebrating being a reader, I thought I’d do a quick Friday Reads. I haven’t done one of these posts in a while, but I wanted to share my weekend reading plans with you.

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston
I started this book yesterday and I’m already 30% through the audiobook. I’m enjoying the plot and am curious to see where the story goes. I’ll most likely finish this book soon.

Final Girls by Riley Sager
I’ve been on a Riley Sager kick recently, so I’m excited to read another one of their books. This is on my TBR for the month and should be a fairly quick read. I’m confident that I’ll be able to finish it this weekend.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman
I’ve been in the mood for fall lately, especially with the weather cooling off where I live. One of my favorite fall books that I read every year is ‘Coraline,’ so I’m hoping to binge it this weekend.

August 2024 | To Be Read

Hi Friends,
Today I am sharing my August TBR! I am excited and a little bit scared because July was probably my worst reading month of the year. To make up for my lack of reading, I have decided to challenge myself and attempt to read 20 books in August. I will be aiming to finish some books I have already started and read a lot of the summer books I haven’t gotten to yet. And, of course, I always have some ARCs to read.

Even though I have a pretty intense reading month planned, I still wanted to do some sort of TBR game. This month, I used a spinner wheel that gave me book covers instead of prompts. So, the book choices were completely out of my hands, which was terrifying and exciting at the same time.

This TBR might seem a bit short considering I said I want to read a lot in August, but the rest of the books I plan to read will likely be mood reads, review copies, and books for secret posts. Summerween 2024 | Day Six

Hi Friends,
We are on day six of Summerween! I wasn’t able to get as much reading done as I wanted to today. I believe I only got to 15% of ‘How To Sell A Haunted House‘ by Grady Hendrix. However, I am still very intrigued by the plot.

I spent some of the day out and about. I had a lovely dinner at Panera. When I go there, which isn’t actually all that often, I usually get the Pick 2 deal. I had a yummy half salad and sandwich. It was really tasty, and I forgot how good the food is there.

Also, I had to stop by Barnes & Noble and Target. I didn’t get any books at Barnes & Noble—I know, shocker!—but I did get six books at Target since they were having a buy 2, get 1 free sale. I’m really excited to read all the books I picked up.

Summerween 2024 | Day Five

Hi Friends,
Happy Summerween day five! I can’t believe the readathon is almost over. I’ve actually completed all the prompts today, so any more books I read are just extra and don’t have to fit the prompts. I finished ‘The Last Time I Lied’ by Riley Sager, and it was amazing. It counted for a book that takes place during the summer and also worked for the five-word title prompt. I have a lot to say about this book, but you’ll have to wait for my review.

I also completed the graphic novel ‘Something Is Killing The Children’. It was another great read, and I’m definitely going to continue with this graphic novel series. I read the e-book via Everand, and you can get a free trial using my link (click here).

Even though I’ve finished all the prompts, I decided to try and read one more book before the readathon ends. So, I ended day five by starting ‘How To Sell A Haunted House’ by Grady Hendrix. I got about five chapters in, and I’m actually enjoying the story, which is interesting since this author isn’t a favorite of mine.

Summerween 2024 | Day One

Hi Friends,
Yesterday, Summerween kicked off! In my TBR post for the readathon, I promised to do daily updates. However, I didn’t mention that I wouldn’t be posting the updates until the day after, which is why Day 1 is going up on Day 2. This is because I won’t know how much I’ve read until the day ends. I hope that makes sense.
Anyway, I’m somewhat happy with how my reading went on the first day of the readathon. I managed to finish a book, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for Summerween. I had started ‘Vespertine‘ by Margaret Rogerson at the beginning of the month and wanted to finish it before starting any new books.

However, I was able to start ‘The House Across the Lake‘ by Riley Sager and got to 25%. So, even though I read a lot, I didn’t finish any books for the readathon. Still, I’m happy with my reading for the day.

I realize it’s rather late in the month, but I still wanted to share my May TBR. Once again, I used prompts to pick my TBR. I selected five prompts and chose a book that fits each one. I must say, I’m very excited about this month’s book selections.

This is a book I have heard many things about and can’t wait to jump into. It’s a magical realism story about witches, and I’ve been told that it’s a great read.

This is a cozy fantasy, a genre I haven’t explored much. However, I know that this book is well-liked, and the plot intrigues me.

I’m not sure what’s drawing me towards this book, but I have a feeling that I am going to love it. Despite the fact that the main romance trope in the book is second chance, which is my least favorite book romance plot.

The first sentence of this book truly captivated me, so I have high hopes for it. Also, as you can tell, I enjoy a good witchy book.

March 2024 // To Be Read

Hi Friends,
Today is another TBR post. This is going to be my monthly TBR. Usually, I will play my Bookopoly game, but I decided that I am going to start switching up how I pick my TBR each month. This month I chose to use a prompt spinner wheel to help me pick the books this month. I used a random number generator to see how many spins I was going to do and got 10, so this TBR is a bit much considering all the readathons I’m participating in.


I’m very excited that my first prompt was a seasonal read. Since spring starts at the end of March, I’m putting a spring read on my TBR. That book is going to be ‘In The Weeds’ by B.K. Borison. Honestly, I don’t have high hopes for this book, like at all. It just happens to be my least favorite trope – second chance romance. But if I don’t just put it on a TBR, I may never read it.


The second prompt was a book that ends on an even number of pages. I am, once again, putting ‘Ruthless Vows’ by Rebecca Ross on my TBR. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to it in February, but I am dying to see how this duology ends.


My third prompt was a low star prediction, which is more of a punishment prompt, but that’s okay . I picked ‘Liar’s Beach’ by Katie Cotugno. This is a young adult mystery, and an Agatha Christie retelling. I’ve only read one other book by this author, which I didn’t enjoy. I hope that this book is slightly better.

The fourth spin’s prompt was a book under 250 pages. I am happy about this, because it means I get to add a short book to my TBR. However, I don’t own many short books. That means that I’ll be picking a graphic novel. Luckily I’ve been in the mood to read volume two of ‘Unfamiliar’ by Haley Newsome, because the first volume was such a cute read.


The fifth prompt was a book you bought used, which is easy since I’m a book buying addict. I am choosing ‘The Silent Patient’ by Alex Michaelides, since it is going to work perfectly for a readathon which I’ll be taking part in this month. All I know about the book is that it’s a thriller that people seem to really enjoy.


My sixth spin gave me the prompt a book with a map. Now I should not be starting any new series, but most of the books I have that contain maps are starts of series. So, with my husband’s help I chose ‘A Curse So Dark And Lonely’ by Brigid Kemmerer. All I know is that this is the start of a trilogy, and it’s also a Beauty and the Beast retelling.


My seventh prompt was a book published after 2015, which is most books on my TBR. I’m going to put ‘Two Twisted Crowns’ by Rachel Gillig back on my TBR, since it was another February book that I wasn’t able to read.


Prompt number eight was to read an author’s debut book, which is amazing. I really wanted to get ‘Powerless’ by Lauren Roberts on this month’s TBR. If I am not mistaken, this is her debut novel, and apparently it’s heavily inspired by ‘The Hunger Games.’


The ninth spin gave me one that was most recent purchased, which again, is easy for me. I decided to pick ‘The Bone Witch‘ by Rin Chupeco. This is the start of a gothic fantasy series that I haven’t seen anyone talk about. I’m interested to see if it is any good.


The tenth and final spin landed on the prompt a book with an illustrated cover. I’m happy to get this prompt, because I don’t have much romance on this TBR. So, I picked ‘The Deal’ by Elle Kennedy, since my copies of this series are the illustrated versions. I am very intimidated by this series, and just hoping that I love it.

Weekly Reading // February 19th – 25th

Hi Friends,
I usually do Friday Reads posts, but I thought that I would change it up and do a weekly reading post. I’m going to be talking about the books that I hope to read this week. On my TBR for the month, I have mostly just the fantasies left to read. But, I’m not sure I’ll actually get to any of them before the month is over. However, I do have big reading plans for the week.

Everyone Who Can Forgive Me Is Dead by Jenny Hollander
I’m 30% into the book, and hoping that I can finish it soon. The book is pretty slow, but it is a thriller that I am enjoying so far.

Betting on You by Lynn Painter
This is an anticipated read for me, which means it is crazy that I haven’t read it yet. This is on my TBR for the month and it should be a fairly quick read. I typically love Lynn Painter’s young adult books, and I’m expecting this one to be no different.

Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong
This is the one fantasy from my TBR that I would like to actually read this week. I read the first book back in 2022, so I need to get this duology completed.

I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang
This is tentatively on my TBR for the week because the audiobook is available on Libby soon. If that hold comes in, then I will most likely pick it up.
