Bookish, Blogging & More // 2023 Goals

Hi Friends,
Happy New Year! I cannot believe that it is practically 2023. This year was insane but pretty good if I do say so myself. Fun fact, New Year’s Eve is my favorite day of the year. I like how everything starts over when a new year comes, and there are new possibilities. Today, I will be sharing my New Year bookish and blogging resolutions!

Blog Goals
– Stay Consistent: I think that I’m fairly consistent when it comes to my blog, but I would like to have more of a schedule. I try to post 3 days a week, so I’m hoping I can keep that up in the New Year.
– Grow: Followers are not the reason I blog, but I would love to grow my community. I always get so excited when I get a new follower because it means that you enjoy my content.
– Socials: I am going to try and be more active on my socials. If you don’t know I have a Bookstagram, Twitter and Booktok account! You can find me as BooksWithBunny on all my socials. I would like to post multiple times a week on all my accounts.

Bookish Goals
– Read Before Buying: Honestly, this probably won’t work out for me but I would like to only buy books I’ve read. I feel so guilty when I buy a book and end up DNFing or not liking it.
– Read My Shelf: This was a goal of mine in 2022, but I would still like to read more of my owned books.
– Finish Series: There are some book series that I have been reading for what feels like ever. I would like to complete at least one series per season (spring, summer, fall and winter).

Personal Goals
– Mental Health: This was also a goal of mine from last year, but I did a horrible job taking care of my mental health in 2022. So, this year I’m going to make my mental well-being more of a priority.
– Yoga Teacher: Currently, I’m working towards getting my yoga teacher certification! I would love to be done with the program early 2023. Hopefully, I can start teaching yoga soon.
– Baby Fever: This is a very personal goal for me but I am hopeful that I will grow my family in 2023. I have been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year, and I’m trying to believe that this year it will happen.

In the comments, let me know if you make resolutions or goals for the New Year. And, if you do what are your top goals? Before you leave, ring in the New Year by following my blog.

Winter Wonderland Tag // Toss-Up Tuesday

Hi Friends,
Since it is getting a lot colder here and the holidays have arrived I thought it would be fun to do a winter tag. This isn’t a bookish tag, but it does contain some fun wintery questions.

1.) What is your favorite winter /fall song?
This is a hard one, because I’m always listening to music. For fall song that would be ‘Safe and Sound’ by Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars. The song gives me major fall vibes. I don’t have a go to winter song, because by the time winter comes I am mostly just listening to Christmas music.

2.) What is your favorite winter/fall pajamas?
Every year on Christmas eve I get a new pair of pjs, so my current favorite winter pajamas would have to be the ones I received last year. They are from Lauren Conrad’s Kohls fashion line and they are so cute. They are cozy, christmasy and not too warm, which is perfect for someone who is always hot, like me.

3.) What is your favorite winter/fall item that makes you happy?
This scarf is my absolute favorite fall/winter fashion piece. A few years back, I searched everywhere for a scarf like this and it is my go to scarf. The colors remind me of Thanksgiving and I love it.

4.) What is your favorite winter/fall thing to do?
Read holiday books and watch holiday movies! I love snuggling up in bed with a cute Christmas movie or book and a warm drink. It is the best way to spend a chilly winter night in.

5.) What is your favorite winter/fall drink?
I am going to branch out from the typical Starbucks drink answer even though their White Mocha is a forever favorite of mine. I am going to say a milkshake, and yes a milkshake counts as a drink. The peppermint milkshake at Chick-Fa-La is delicious and my favorite winter beverage. As weird as that might be.

6.) What is your favorite winter/fall movie?
‘The Princess Switch’ trilogy is the best trilogy of all time! I could watch these movies anytime of the year, but especially at winter time. Honestly, the first movie ‘The Princess Switch’ is my favorite movie ever!

7.) What changes during your winter/fall routine?
I sleep in a lot. For some reason, during the cold months I just don’t want to get out of bed in the mornings. This isn’t uncommon for me all year long, since I hate mornings, but something about winter makes me want to sleep in everyday of the week.

8.) What are you asking for, for Christmas or Hannukah / holidays?
A Tiffany’s Necklace! Just kidding, kind of. I don’t tend to ask for things, because I tend to buy myself things throughout the year. But, books are always appreciated. I normally just share my Amazon wishlist with my family.

In the comments, let me know your favorite fall/winter song, since I am always looking for new music. Don’t forget to like this post so that you get notified whenever there is a new post. I mainly post bookish content, but every now and then I do fun non-bookish posts too.

Honestly, those are all the books at the top of my wishlist as of now. However, I am probably missing quiet a few. If you would like to see my full Amazon book wishlist feel free to do so by clicking here. In the comments, tell me what is the number on thing on your wishlist bookish or otherwise. Stuck In Park // Mental Health Struggles

Hi Friends,
Depression has struck again! Does anyone ever feel like a car stuck in park or is that just me? My whole life I have wanted to do something amazing. If you don’t know when I was 14 years old I started an Online Magazine called ‘Sparkling Stars‘. It is actually still up if you want to check it out. It was fairly successful and I worked with many brands. However, it wasn’t a money making career choice. Sadly, money makes the world go around.

I did have a successful YouTube beauty channel from 2007 to 2011, but than my mental health took a turn for the worst. I have started and failed at many things. I’ve had multiple blogs, released a poetry book and even started an Etsy shop. Honestly, this little book blog blog of mine is one of the longest things I’ve stuck with, which is pretty sad.

I just want more. Not to say I want to be this big time influencer, but I have always wanted to do something that not only I loved but also brought me joy. I have a pretty complex life currently. My husband is disabled so I have to take care of him. I struggle with my bipolar, anxiety and as you can tell depression. Also, I would love to be a mom one day, but I don’t ever feel like I am good enough to be a mom.

I was never good at school, and because of my husbands disability it would be hard to have a 9 to 5 job. For clarification, i would never blame my huasband for my life not being where I want it to be. He is my best friend and i love him unconditionally. That being said, I just feel so lost and confused. I don’t know what the point of this post is only to say if you are feeling like a failure or lonely, lost and have no idea where your life is going just know that I hear and I understand.

I do want to stress that I am in no way suicidal or have thoughts of harming myself. If you have those thoughts please reach out to someone or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255). The provide 24/7 support to enough in need. Please leave a comment letting me know that I am not alone in how I am feeling.

I Heart Spring TAG 2022 // Toss-Up Tuesday

Hi Friends,
Spring is practically here! Although, this isn’t my favorite time of year I do love it when the seasons change. I thought that it would be fun to do a spring tag. This one is for the early days of YouTube and blogging it’s the “I Heart Spring” tag.

💋 Favorite spring nail polish?

I don’t have one nail polish that is my go-to in the spring time. I used to reach for pastel colors, but this spring I have been all about the bright neon shades. I would have to say my current favorite spring nail colors are orange and hot pink.

💋 What is your must-have lip color this spring?

I don’t branch out with my lip colors, yet I tend to play around with bold purple lipsticks in the spring. Honestly, I have no idea if this shade looks good on me, but I will still rock it.

💋 Show us your favorite spring dress!

I don’t think that I have one favorite spring dress, but more of a style of dress. I think that skater dresses are perfect for spring. I own a few that can be dressed up or down for all occasions. Also, they look great paired with a cardigan for those cooler spring days.

💋 What’s your favorite flower?

I am not a big flower person, so I don’t know many by name. I do like Lilies and Daisies.

💋 Favorite spring scarf/accessory?

I think that flower crowns are super cute to wear in the spring time. I would categorize them as hair accessories, which in my opinion counts. Yes, some might think they’re childish, or not for everyday use, but I think they make an outfit more stylish.

💋 What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)

I read that colored lashes where the new trend for spring, and I am here for it. I don’t do many colorful eye looks, so colored mascara would be a cool way to add a pop to my makeup.

💋 Favorite spring candle?

As you probably guessed, my favorite candles are from Bath and Body Works. It was hard for me to pick a favorite, but I would have to say Peach Bellini. I am terrible at describing scents, so I am not even going to try. However, if you like fruity, sweet smells this one is perfect for you.

💋 Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?

The perfume that is my favorite in spring is the original Daisy by Marc Jacobs. I don’t buy a lot of higher end perfumes, yet I will never regret getting this one. The scent is very subtle and gives me spring vibes.

💋 What is spring like where you live?

I am going to guess that this question is about the weather. Where I live spring season is my least favorite time of year. We don’t have overly hot springs, or colder ones. The days usually stay within the 70s. However, May and June are tornado season for my state. I am super scared of tornadoes, which is why I dread spring time.

💋 What’s your favorite thing about spring?

I love the vibrancy of spring! This might be a weird answer, and hard for me to explain. I love that everything blooms and comes a live again in spring.

💋 Are you a spring cleaner?

Yes and no. In the past, I was not into spring cleaning at all. This year I am on a mission to spring clean and organize. I don’t know if I am going to stick to this plan, but I am going to try.

💋 Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?

I don’t have any vacations planned for the spring, or this year in general. Although, I would like to travel more in the future. As of now, I will be spending the rest of spring at home with my hubby and pets.

These questions where a blast to answer! I tag all of you, so let me know in the comments if you do the tag. Don’t forget to like and share this post. Also, follow my blog to get notified whenever a new post goes up.

10 Random Questions // Toss-Up Tuesday

Hi Friends,
I thought it might be fun to do a little get to know me personally tag. However, these questions aren’t super personal. Perhaps later on if you guys want I will do a post were I answer some of your questions. Anyhow, I found these questions randomly online and on YouTube. I picked out the questions I thought would be most fun answering for all.

How Old Are You? I am 29 years old

When Were You Born? I was born in June on the 27th to be exact, which makes me a cancer baby.

Do You Have Any Pets? Yep, I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. All of them are girls.

Are You In A Relationship? I have been with my hubby for 9 years. We will celebrate of second wedding anniversary in October.

Do You Suffer From Any Mental Health Issues? I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety.

Favorite Makeup Brand? This is hard but I think I would have to say Clinique and Makeup Revolution.

Favorite Clothing Store? Walmart for sure!

Favorite Color? Pink, which is a pretty basic answer.

Favorite Candy? Probably any kind of gummy candy and Reese’s.

Go To Starbucks Order? On most days it’s a hot tall non-fat white chocolate mocha with whip. But, on hot days I go for an iced non-fat white mocha with no whip and vanilla sweet cream foam.

Those are all the questions I am going to answer in this post. If you want to stay up to date with my life and random thoughts follow me on Twitter and Instagram. Please follow the blog, and comment below with any post questions you might have for me.

Reading Helps // Coping With Mental Health

Hi Friends,
I have stated before, or at least I believe have, that I suffer from mental health disorders. Well, lately, my mental health hasn’t been the best. I have my highs and lows, and this has definitely been a low month. However, reading has always been a solid coping mechanism for me. So, I wanted to share some ways that reading helps me, and might help you, cope with mental health struggles.

#1. Clears Your Mind
Honestly, reading completely takes your mind off your problems. When you are reading a high fantasy, you aren’t thinking about your everyday struggles. When you are falling in love with the boy next door, you aren’t worrying about the days to come. A good story captivates you, and everything else falls away.

#2. Problem Solving
Reading could possibly solve your problems. You may actually read a book about a character dealing with similar issues, or pick up a self-help book. Advice type books might not be your thing, but they can be useful when dealing with mental health. Books can give you clarity, or a new way to look at something, which is important.

#3. You’re Not Alone
Books featuring characters with mental illnesses are very beneficial, especially if the characters are facing the same diagnosis as you. Simply reading about somebody that is struggling with a disorder can be comforting. You don’t feel so alone, because you can relate to the character in one way or another.

#4. There’s No Competition
This might seem like a weird reason, but pretty much everything we do, or I do, feels like a competition. We see people online, or friends and family, doing these things that make us feel like we aren’t doing enough. Essentially, people are always competing against each other. But you aren’t going to compete with a book character. You can feel at ease and pressure-free.

#5. Happiness
The number one reason that books can help you with your mental health is because they make you happy. If you don’t enjoy reading, then none of the other tips are going to work. You have to read because it brings you joy, if everything else is to fall into place. Honestly, how could reading not ignite happiness?

I must admit that when my mental health is bad, reading doesn’t always do it for me. But, I try to remember these tips during the low periods, and keep reading. Please leave me a comment to brighten my day. And, like always, I ask that you follow the blog.

3 Things That Help Me Cope // Anxiety and Depression

Hi Friends,
Today I wanted to talk about, I guess, a more serious topic – anxiety and depression. I suffer from both of those, along with other mental illnesses. Most days it can be a struggle. I know that a vast majority of people have anxiety in some way, and there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ way to ease one’s anxiety. But, I thought I’d share the things that help me when my anxiety and depression are running wild.

Reading
This is probably an obvious one, but reading helps me get out of my own mind. I get to follow characters lives and escape the real world, if only, for a little while. Another great thing about reading is that there is something for everyone. Whether you enjoy mysteries or fantasy, or even a cute romance there a tons of genres to choose from that could help free you mind and keep you calm.

A Hug
For me, a hug from someone I love always helps. It might seem like the simplest of things, but when ever I’m feeling sad or anxious, I know that a hug from my husband will help get me through until the feeling passes. Sometimes all you need is to be embraced by a person that loves and cares for you and your happiness.

Exercise
Let’s be honest, nobody really likes working out. Yet, it can be beneficial for not only staying healthy, but while struggling with anxiety and depression. Exercise releases endorphins, which make you happy. After a workout, you will feel energized, stronger, and (hopefully) happier. If nothing else, you will get such a burn and be so exhausted that you forget all about your anxiety and depression.

These are the 3 things that have helped me when dealing with my mental health. Another tip, as taboo as it might be, therapy and medication can really help. Taking care of your mental health is important, and you shouldn’t be afraid to seek help. Don’t let the judgement of others stop you from doing what is best for you and your health.
